Lizard pet insurance

Lizard pet insurance will provide you with financial assistance should your pet become ill, get lost or is stolen. Insurance companies will insure most exotic pets, like reptiles, and tailor their policies in order to meet the needs of your lizard.

The type of lizard you own will determine how much insurers will provide to cover veterinary costs. Although there is an annual limit as to how much veterinary costs your insurer will pay out, this is usually fairly generous.

Before completing the purchase of a policy, the insurance company will negotiate an amount which they will pay out on the theft, loss or death of an lizard pet. Do ensure that this amount meets your expectations.

As with most pet insurance, 3rd party liability cover is also usually included in your lizard pet insurance. This will protect you financially should the actions of your pet result in any damage to either people or property.
It is possible to purchase optional extras to add on to your policy. For example, if you pay a higher premium, you will be able to insure your lizard pet to travel.
In the event that you do need to make a claim, with most pet insurance, the owner usually pays the vet and is then reimbursed by the insurance company when the claim has been processed. However, treatment for lizard pets is likely to be more expensive, and it may not always be possible to come up with the funds at short notice. In this case, the vet will usually negotiate a contingency plan whereby the owner pays the vet when the claim has been completed. There are a handful of insurance companies however, which will pay the vets directly on behalf of their customer.
